Reports of 6 were from Frank Ealy, owner of Capitola Boat and Bait.  while I could see the advantage for him to inflate the scores, I have to say I've known him for more than a decade, and he is a gentleman and his honesty is unquestionable.  Ditto for Ed Burrell, who runs the dock and skiff rentals there.  if he says 6 keepers, it was 6 keepers.  Ed is there from predawn to dark every day, except his days off, when he goes fishing.

I agree that Ed is a very good guy.  I am sure that he wouldn't lie.  I am just stating what I saw that was caught off the pier when I was there.  Again there were many power boaters in the area and have no idea how they did.  I talked to a guy in a zodiac and he said he caught a few keepers.  Again, I agree both Ed and Frank are very good, honest guys and would not try to mislead anybody.

Just a side note.  There was almost no swell and no waves breaking at the beach all day.  Both on Wed and Friday.  It would definitely be an easy kayak launch.

Hey, thanks for the clarification, srvpmn.....

Let's hope the bait comes back in and it happens again.

If it does, I promise I will post a heads up on this board asap.....(Ed will call me on my cell if the bite develops again.)

Sadly, I was at work and could not get away, so I missed the bite totally.  DANG!!!

Sounds like you had fun, though.

Anyways, if I had a kayak, I would fish around the Capitola Pier by the kelp.  I am sure the WSB are still around.

Don't they have rentals on the pier?

Thanks for the first hand report - keep 'em comming!
