Im not a fan of 180. Freshwater I understand Ocean I dont think they big impact and faulty.

Pare,  The 180 MD is great for the salt.  It's great for holding a spot if you are jigging. I rinse it and spray with WD40 after a trip.  Its smoother than the other drives I've owned in the last 10 yrs.  More bearings makes it easier to pedal.

I can understand why as I also have the MD 180. It’s a smooth drive but there are a few weak points that I wished Hobie paid more attention to. The sprocket that drives the fins is made out of plastic, which can easily wear out of sand or pebbles get lodged in there. Also the only thing keep your fins from dropping into the ocean is a tiny little spring. What were they thinking??

They got my money, that's for sure. What's worse is that your several miles out in the ocean and the drive fails you...they can take my money but at least give me piece of mind in return
