The wind seems to have settled down some in SC, I'm hoping things will look good for a launch at San Carlos St on friday and to head toward Sand City looking for one of those big 'buts.  Ch 69.

Tom I was about to start a new thread when I saw yours.  I am off on Friday and would love to join you.  What time do you plan to launch?  By San Carlos street do you mean the short street off the frontage road in Sand City by the sewage pumping plant?  Usually the surf is big there for a launch.  Or do you mean San Carlos St Monterey by the San Carlos Beach Park (common dive location on the west side of Monterey Harbor)?

Hey Sakyak,

You may be better off launching from MBK if your going after Halibut along Del Monte Beach. I know a few have been taken between the hotel and the condos in about 50'-60' of water. Some striper action in the area as well.

Thanks Ben.  I do that a lot but would rather fish with Tom if he is there.  If I do not hook up with him I will probably launch from San Carlos beach dive park early and fish for butts and maybe rockfish off Cannery Row.

Tom,

I looked up San Carlos Street on a Monterey Peninsula map and it is not close to Sand City.  Where exactly do you plan to launch and when?

Sackyak:I was planning to launch from San Carlos St, Monterey, near the Coast Guard Station, the park and PB ramp dive spot, and then paddle over to the condo-hotel area off Seaside (thanks, Chef).  It's a little further from S.Carlos than from Del Monte beach, at most a half mile.  But if you launch from Del Monte, I'll just catch up with you.
I know you are an early bird, so I'll leave SC at 5, maybe a little earlier, to get to the park at least by 5:45, 1/2 hr into the water.

OK.  I do like that place.  I launched there once trying to hookup with Chef but I was on the wrong day.  :smt009

By the way.  It is San Carlos Beach.  The Streets around there are Reeside, Cannery Row, Foam, Wave and Lighthouse.  Maybe the little job from Lighthouse to the parking lot is San Carlos but not on my map.  I am sure it is San Carlos Beach Park though as I did some of the environmental cleanup from the old San Carlos cannery when they built it.  My map is old probably older than the park I helped build.

I will see you there,  I kind of wanted to check out the possibilities off Cannery Row.  Johnguinnypig? mentioned he sees lots of them around there.  We could try that area right off the bat then head over to the hotel later.

Yeah, I don't know where the "Street" part came from.  Fishing around there to start is fine with me.  It was my fallback move anyway. I'll go set the alarm.
