Stupid, stupid law.  Narwhal are a species of least concern and there is a thriving cottage industry of native Alaskans that make art from arctic ivory.  Can't buy it or bring it into California though.

Don't sell it to DFG for $30k out of you store when you know it is Ivory :smt044 Keep it and carve it? Possessing Inherited Items I think is not illegal. :smt102 Selling is :smt004 Don't flaunt it...
my new name should be Ostridge. Got my head in the sand. Going fishing and letting go of the other stuff I can't control anyway!

Stupid, stupid law.

Can't be. This is California, and we have no stupid laws here...
I don't like stuff that sucks.

I have a hand-carved ivory chess set that I bought in the Philippines when I was deployed to the Tonkin Gulf, off  the coast of Vietnam in the early 70s.  I'm pretty sure it's legal to possess.  I have no plans to sell it but have often wondered what it might be worth.

I don't think piano keys have been made of ivory for a very long time.  We have a pretty old (antique) piano and the keys are some sort of composite material that is weighted to give the feel of  ivory.
