06/02 Coral St Pay off

I caught and kept my first legal ling of the season this morning along with a few underlings (released), a nice cabazon (released), a large Brown RF, two Olives and a big Blue RF (all kept) and various other small rockfish that I released all in about 2.5 hours of fishing.  I launched to pond like conditions at about 6:30 and was heading home by 8:30 with a few short stops to drop on interesting structure or to talk to other fishermen.  I was back at the house by 10 with a nice stringer.  The best fishing was in 40-60 fow around the corner of Point Pinos where you can not usually even get close when big waves are breaking and the strong NW wind blows you into the huge breakers and rocky boils.  I think this area will be closed as an MPA (?) but it is usually hard to access anyway.  Photos below.

 

Nice one sacyak!! Nice conditions and sounds like awesome fishyness!!  What did you get the Ling on? and looks like the theory about Cabby's hitting red swimbaits hold true! Congrats again and way to keep at it!!

Good job! Thanks for report. These pictures show awesome conditions.

Conditions are great early with some increased wind waves later in the day.   Z, they were mostly all caught using that same orangeishred grub.  I did get a few on squid but only used two squid total on the trip.
