After long debate w/ Brian for last couple of days about the winds & swell.  The forecast was saying 15-25ft wind, but I couldn't wait any longer, so I decided to go anyways since I don't have this weekend off (I'm actually working!).  I heard some guys gonna be at Ocean cove but, my buddy, Jason, call me & he's gonna go to Fort Ross, so I told him I'm gonna meet up w/ him at 1st light, but I couldn't sleep well so got up 4 in the morning & started driving.  It was still pitch dark & I thought I left too early, but I saw Jason getting gas at Jenner's Gas station, so just fallowed him.
We got there before Sun up, but there were some light up already.  Ocean was dead calm & no freaking wind (whatever to NOAA swell forecast)...  Some cars there but we didn't see anyone.  We geared up & park the car walked down the killer hill & went into the water.  Whata easy launch!!!
We started paddle out & seeing lots of bait then I saw some big "boils"!  We fish around there & the boil getting closer & closer, and I started seeing their fins & lots of them.  I thought they're Blues, but we're catching ok size Blacks & Yellow tails.

The boil getting so crazy they're jumping out of the water.  I've never seening like this.

They weren't typical Blue boil.  They were bunch of Yellow tails!!!

My buddy Jason picked up some nice Yellows (they're good eating)!
We fish for while & getting close to limit but no Lings, so I decide to go near shore to try some Lings & Cab.  & I picked up nice Black & Cab.
I got ten rocks but no Ling & I really needed to go pee (no, I'm not gonna pee on dry wet suits)...  I guess I gotta get to work too, so we left around 10am.  No Lings all day for both of us & I don't know why...
The landing was pretty easy & I checked my fish but I only had 8 fish...  I didn't know if I counted wrong or they jumped out, but since I had my big Cab & Black, so I didn't care much...
It was nice opening day at Fort Ross again!!! :fishing1

Ocean looks great!! I've been watching the Bodega buoy, and it's been very calm for the last couple days. Looks like the fog's been staying on the coast. I'm out there Sunday. Looks like you guys had a great opener.

Thanks!
Yeah, I saw the SUV with yak racks which had lots of fishing stickers (of course NCKA stickers too) all over & I knew someone from NCKA!
Let me know when you can come up to Bodega (Salmon, Rockfish, or Roadhouse coffee)!
