Anchor Bay Opener

Had a killer place to stay Wed-Fri at Pt Arena.
Wednesday and Thursday were teaser days as the water was pancake flat with zero wind.
Spent most of Wednesday doing recon ( spending quality time to build the GAF ) so I didn't dive at all.
We were staying at the corner of hwy 1 and Lighthouse road. Thursday morning I decided to drive towards the Lighthouse to check out the water. Flat as a pancake so we decided to dive.
I located the 'Hole in the fence' all on my own and took advantage of it. What a great dive spot. Got my limit and headed back to a nice hot shower.
Friday we packed it up and headed to Anchor Bay. My first time there.
Easy enough launch. Paddled WAY out to 90 FOW. Took out the light weight rod and hooked a nice 12'' blue. Just what I needed for lingzilla! Brought out the heavy artillery, 6oz. leadhead, and hooked the blue through top and bottom lips and sent him down.
After not too long BENDO! LOT of weight at the end of the rod but not too big of a fight.
Then I see color. A HUGE LINGZILLA!!!! As I get him near the yak I can see the head of the blue sticking out of it's mouth with the hook from the leadhead NOT buried in Lingzilla. He piggybacked the whole 90 feet. Quickly I grab the gaff and get him right under the throat as I try to hoist him onto the yak in one motion. He goes ballistic and does a launch and spin. Enough to come off the gaff. I tried to snag him again but to no avail.
I am sure anyone diving at Ft Ross heard my foul mouth as I just lost a toad!
tried to find another but to no avail.
The winds kicked up so I had to call it a day a little before I wanted to.
Sure felt great to get back onto the salt.
