Salt point Sunday

Hit Salt Point with my buddy yesterday. Got out there around 8 to clearing fog and small varied swells. Thank goodness they were't bigguns. It was like paddling around Mendo after the PB create swells from every direction.  Tip: when they say mixed swell, that's what they mean... It acctually flattened out more as the day went on. One minute the fog was way out a few minutes later you could hardly see the rocks. The fishing was on the slower side. We worked it all day and we both caught a keeper ling. I landed 5 lings, a couple of them near the mark, but I didn't even bother measuring them. If I'm going to keep a ling, there's ussually no mistake it's a keeper. Got three nice olives throwing swimbaits, and a bunch of coppers, chinas, and blues. Not one red for me. My buddie landed two, including a decent one while he was trolling near the surface on the way in. Go figure... I caught all my lings, chinas and coppers on irons. Blues and coppers on the swimbaits. Saw a couple humpback whales cruise by too. Talked to Guitarzan on the VHF who was down at Ocean Cove and saw a couple other unidentified yakers out there along with a few PB. All in all, not a bad day, I've had much better days out there, and some worse, but it was great to get out on the great blue again.
