CHUB and I headed for Wet Meadows Lake at 0'dark30 Saturday. It is in the Hope Valley basin about 7500' elev.
Pitched the tent and napped until it felt warm enough to fish. Wind BIG time! Didn't get a single bite.
Woke up to frozen footwells in the morning. packed up and headed to Red Lake. Started fishing around 9 for nada as well. Talked with a regular at the lake who said it was surprisingly slow today.
No fish but had a great time hangin' with CHUB.
The scenery wasn't bad either.

HA, we were up there on Sunday.  I was going to post a similar report.  WINDY WINDY and more wind.  We stopped at Silver, moved on to Caples due to wind, then moved over the hill to Red to avoid the wind which was worse at Caples and found too much wind at Red as well.  We bank fished Red for nada and 3 lost spinners.  then went back to Silver, where the wind was tolerable.  My folks took the yaks out for a while near the dam and caught nothing, then Chryss and I paddled against the wind, through 1-1.5 foot wind chop, from the dam to the big Island, trolling the whole way for nothing.  Fished around the big island for more nothing and drifted with the wind back, until it changed direction  Argh!
We even jigged the deep sections of the lake, but were blind, as both my FF batteries were dead...

BEAUTIFUL scenery, and I think my folks are going to buy some yaks this summer in Missouri, but we found no fish!

Less Mental than before, Still savage AF tho <3

It was flat as a pancake on Monday. The fish were still not cooperating.

Also went to the Sierra but primarily to celebrate uncles 60th b-day in Reno. I did stop by Donner Lake on Saturday for a couple of hours to do some fishing off the bank and caught my limit of rainbows. It was beautiful day and the fish were bitting almost non- stop. Monday was also beautiful day except the fishing was very slow . Sorry no pic's of Donner Lake.

I did check out Pyamid Lake and tried taking some pic's but the pictures didn't come out to good. I didn't fish, just scoping it out for future camping and fishing plans.

What I found out! see pic's

I wonder of they consider a kayak a boat? $18 a day to fish sounds pretty steep to me.

You betcha they do! At least when I was last up there few years back.

They are also talking about doubling the rates soon. Best time of the year would be in the spring for us when the first are shallow. I am so down for a trip. I tried to get something together before but couldn't get people on board. There are monster trout in that lake.

Way to go is to rent one of the cabins so you can stay warm at night and have a place to cook.

Ya Tote,

There is also a $1.00 fee for the issuing of the permit, so it's $19.00 bucks to kayak fish at Pyramid Lake. You could only keep two Cutthroat trout one at 16-19 inch and one over 24 inches. The Cui-ui fish (some type of Carp)is protected and has to be released. The Sacramento Perch, I failed to ask if there was a limit. But seen a picture on there wall of fame of a guy with a whole stringer full... over 10 fish.
