While salmon trolling I always come across massive bait balls on the surface.
On two occasions I came across squid balls, people call them gold.

I use my salmon net to scoop them, only land about 5% because the hole is too large.
The rubber coat salmon net weight a million pound, I am not lugging that out there.

Do you know any light net with smaller hole?
Note: I don't want a cast net  :smt005

I've seen a few nets at Dicks that are the rubber type with smaller holes. Definitely feel like some chovies would pass through the holes but might be better than your current situation hah. There's always those thin, trout mesh nets but the handle is probably too short for what you're trying to do.

Get a catch n release net for trout fishing, and build a handle extension.

Line the inside of a landing net with a large mesh bag.

Can you post a few links?
Photos would be nice.

I have a setup with about 4 squid jigs built in line.  Never used it yet, but its supposed to work well.

I recently lined a shrimp cage with the green poly cloth that goes on cyclone fences and attached with zip ties.
“I’m going fishing.”  They said, “we will go with you.”
