Ive seen Lake Mendo worse.
Anyway, got on the water at 11, trolled north and out a few miles, marked HUGE bait balls, the size of blocks and 50 feet deep, no hits, saw some whales, dolphins, some birds divebombing fish.
Almost no wind and super clear blue water, a great day.
It felt way fishy, next time she gonna give it up.

I was going for salmon with an fbr, herring and weight release with 2 lb balls on the troll, and mooching in between, all on mono. Next time Ill bring another rod/reel, spectra rigged with a 3 way for the 'buts, looks like prime area for them, never caught one there.

Nice looking water.  Keep putting the trolling hours/miles in - you'll hookup.   :smt001

guitarzan you lucky bastard!

How far up did you go?

If the halibut are in the flats off of Stinson and Muir cove are good but I've caught more trolling salmon gear on the bottom right up against the shoreline between Muir and Stinson

also a couple of spots in there that are good for drifting and live bait would be killer

can't cry about a day like that fish or no fish Unless you're stuck sitting at home looking at pictures of it

Did a 45 up and out and made it to stinson pretty much, got to 70 feet. Its flat all around there, coastline is something out of a postcard. Ive cought lings with salmon gear there from a pb, would love to get an ocean flattie. Seems like most of the boats were more toward dux.

it's just north/ and a little east of the dux reef.  sandy bottom in 30 to 40' of water, happened upon it 3 years ago in a pb, caught a halibut, 36" 20lbs, a fattie at that length.

i was describing the spot to a deckhand friend of mine and he told me they called it the wormhole.
