Time to let go of brand new rod, never used bought about 1.5years ago. Ugly stix Tiger rod with a Penn Jigmaster 500.  Rod is taking up space, never used it, don’t see me using in near future time to let it go
Both together $50.

That’s a steal! This is one of my go to setups. Only difference is I use a 506.

Damn...always somebody quicker on the draw.  I thought I finally found a real saltwater rod... Do you actually need this gear, or is it just a good deal and going into a pile? :smt001  Enjoy

Ugly stix Tiger rod is one of my favorite rod I use for ocean fishing and Penn reel is also my fav collection reels beside Accurate and Avet.

I got the rod to put my Penn on so I'd have decent set up for halibut but timing was never right for me and I haven't been on the salt since 2009 (Shortly after loosing my job then) and since I get sea sick on the ocean don't think I'll ever be using it. Thought I would, but reality smacked me, so set up needs to go to someone that will use it.  The Penn JM 500 is not new.  It was however worked on by Mr. Alan Tani back when i put this setup together. Would prefer  to keep it local.

Easy -to-work-on reel once you figure out the dog and dog spring reassemble trick.  Alan Tani had a tutorial on rehab, complete with new carbon fiber drag washers on this site about 5 or more years ago, complete with detailed photos.  I've copied it and could find it if you can't find it by searching here.

PS that is a 500S.  a bit more rare, higher speed gear ratio.
