american river Tuesday

Tuesday night, American River, Howe ramp.  I should be there about 6:30 (I hope) and will be fishing upstream to Watt.

I might be there. If I do go, I'll go down river to soak sardines in the deep water next to the pump.

                 Vic and I are keen on giving it a try too - but know nothing about fishing the American River .  Could one of you give us some pointers as to what you are targeting and with what setup etc.  We could be down at Howe between 6 and 6.30pm. We look forward to fishing with you guys.

My plan was to paddle up to Watt, and cast poppers and shallow plugs at the bank on the drift down.  But may go downstream and join Al at the pumps with plugs.

Sayak: right now there are a few early stripers in the river and reports are that shad have been spotted, but not by me...

Last night was a no-go for me...between car issues, heavy wind and a still freaky wife, I called it a night and stayed home to make dinner...

I'll be out on Thursday with the "Thursday night crew" tho...

                   sorry to hear about the troubles!   Vic and I made it down to Howe on Tuesday at 6.30pm - looked around saw no one - decided to give it a go anyway.  No fish for us - not sure if we were doing it right - kinda floated down toward the pumphouse and paddled back up again throwing plugs left and right.  Guys were out there fly fishing - they also had no luck.  A guy came by us in a tinny and reckoned that the striper were boiling like crazy 2 days ago.  He was trolling live bait but had no luck either.  No fish spotted on the finder - quite windy but we were happy to be out there.

We would love to hookup next time you guys head down - we could do with some insider help from the guys in the know.
