Yeah the weather is going to suck this weekend, but I have a local club event there with sites reserved months ago.  Does Doran shut down with the government impasse?

It's not federal so I doubt it.

Doran is a Sonoma county regional park, so no.

Well that trip was a surprise.  Friday night the water was flat as could be and wind was minor.  Saturday morning the water was flat and the wind was a non issue.  The fans really started to turn on from around 11am until 4ish or so then died back down.

There was NO swell, no waves, little wind and very few kayakers or boats out on the water.  Based on weather forecast I left my kayak at home  :smt009

We picked up just one keeper crab off of the jetty.  One member of our group did drop 4 pots with a kayak for about a 4 hour soak and limited with a couple of jumbos.

Its all about the wind direction there. An offshore wind is usually not a big issue, both in the campground and on the water. Maybe the hills to the east help block the wind ? A wintertime northwest wind can make the campground hell.

Nice to hear that the crabbing appeats to be picking up and thst you had a good trip.
