Got out about 7:30,low tide,  low overcast, wind about 10, real bouncy outside the cove, headed up to the Tower House, but had to go way inside in the kelp to keep from hobby-horsing.  Used swim baits for a while and got nothing, moved outside until I saw waves cresting, then back down inside cove, where I got a couple small rockies, then I saw another yak angler, Warren, up near the large rock island, maybe 100 yds off.  I then noticed what I thought were whale blows, checked it out, and sure enough, saw barnacled back of a small whale.  I was really amazed how close in it was, really just in the lane the PB's use to get out of the cove, just beyond the big rock.  I went over and confirmed it with Warren, he  said he nearly came out of his skin when he saw it near his yak.
I went over near Arrowhead Pt and got (yes, released) 3 large Canarys real quickly, as well as a couple small rockies.  Warren had as assortment of small to med rocks and said he had gotten an underling close in there.
I gave it up at noon - it was like a frig out there with the fog and wind.
NWS predicted 8 ft at 8 secs, 6-8 k wind. The wind was more like 10-12

I drove down and looked at the bay and hoped you were having a better time than it looked like........sorry you weren't.... :smt009  Partially sorry because I was hopeful about tomorrow.  Thanks for the report, Tom
Saltwater is the cure for everything that ails us,
sweat, tear or the sea.

Ch 8 ( Salinas)weatherman said the wind is going to be stronger tomorrow, tho you probably gave up on it after looking today. By the way, what were those fancy socks you got a while ago? Sealskinz?  Do they keep your feet dry? Yeah, I'm still working on that problem!

Tom -
Thanks for the report. Wind = no fun. Forecast seems correct this time.
I got a wader to address wet feet issue. Yah, I am curious of a different way of solving this problem.
