I'll be in Crescent City tomorrow for work and am considering doing some rockfishing north of the harbor along Pebble Beach Drive.  Any far-northerners up for meeting to fish?   :smt001

NWS is giving me fits!  This is the flip-floppiest forecast I think I've ever seen...  3' swell call yesterday for today and now it's around 11' out there with a call for 7-9'...  Make up your minds!!!!   :smt013

I'm not boating at Crescent City today.

The 1' - 3' swell forecast is to hit tomorrow evening, but now even my good page is showing 5-7' water off Big Sur this weekend, so good luck to the Kiln crew.

I'll get in the water somewhere Friday or Saturday, but it may just be a dive...

Abking,

I'm was all set to head up Friday, but I guess you're now saying it might be better to postpone my drive until the forecast is a little bit better.

Frank:  I think there will be opportunities this weekend, but the salmon bite is currently not happening and it appears that the wind will be pretty consistent through the weekend.  Friday actually looks like a good day, with low swell and moderate winds forecast.  Saturday I'm considering hiking with my yak on the sand wheels down to do some nearshore rockfishing along the northern Lost Coast.  ...but I'm really up in the air.  Don't know what to tell you, Frank, but it's not feeling like a big opportunity weekend to me.

It turns out I could've fished Crescent City, no problem.  The 20-25 knot north winds and 7-9' swell forecast must've been offshore, because the rocks along Pebble Beach Drive were looking very inviting...

Eric,
I just checked iwindsurf.com and it predicts 24-31 knot winds at the Eel River buoy for Saturday.  Think I'll stay home this weekend, but I'm keeping next weekend open for a possible trip north.

A good example of why the fish are big here:  with the forecast of 5-15 knot winds and 4-5' swell the Eel River buoy currently has 15-25 knot winds from the north that have not dropped below 15 knots at all since yesterday midday and the swell is at 5-7'...   :smt013 :smt003 :smt004 :smt009
