Jim ("InSeine"), Naoaki ("Uminchu"),  our friend Kerry and I took the day off from working at the Marine Lab to go ab diving.  The weather was too nice to go to work and working at the lab would have been torture.

Anyway, we got to Reef Campground at the at the wee hour of 11 am.  Conditions were almost perfect... no wind, barely any swell, and about 10 ft vis.

We found plenty of abs and took our time getting our limits.  Nothing huge, and abs ranged from 7 1/2" to 9" with most in the 8"-8 1/2" range.

One of the abs decided to wear Kerry's spare mask..

The crew and the catch..

Naoaki got the 9" today, so he gets his glory shot posted.

Now if someone would be so kind as to check on JohnGuineaPig.  In particular, make sure he isn't in the bathroom at work.

SWEET!
I may have to get a wet suit and start making trips over for those big tasty critters, I know my wife would have a blast (if I can find her a 20mm suit :smt005 )  She is a sucker for shellfish...no comment...

Nicely done.  I love that spot.  There are lots of big fish there too.  Lings, reds, blacks, blues.. Whites.  Sorry I haven't been back there since my little adventure last Feb. with Whitey.  One of these days I have to get back in up there.

I still sense a lot of Dr. Souss in your post. I guess we will have to deal with that for a few years until the little one grows up and starts fishing.  Nice job on the abs and...there is simply no way to make urchins rhime with lab, ab, grab.

Urchin Lurkin' Lab Ab Grab. Hey I gave it a shot.
It is great to see  you had such perfect conditions. I hate you all! :smt002
I will be doing the same at Van Damme this coming weekend with this fabulous forcast to look forward to:
SAT
N WIND 10 TO 20 KT...BECOMING NW 20 TO 25 KT. WIND WAVES
3 TO 4 FT...BUILDING TO 5 TO 7 FT. NW SWELL 2 TO 3 FT.

I have NO problem staying dry if the conditions look bad when I am there.
I do not remember the last time I had your conditions for ab diving. I hope it happens soon though.
Loved the underwater shot. Reminded me what an ab looks like. Thanks.
