Mendo was a blast! On Saturday NCKA had a mega launch in calm water on the north side, and many of the guys landed beautiful stripers (although not me :smt010). On Sunday the guys left me in the dust at the campground to go fishing--I just don't get it :smt003 and told me to just keep making left turns to meet up with them at the south launch ramp. Instead I launched on the north and paddled along the east shore further than I had gone the day before. I used a 3" shad rap deep diver because I didn't have any bait and caught (and released) a SMB, my first.

It was so sunny and warm that I parked the fishing rod and did a typical kayak paddle up the river to the east of the launch ramp. Gorgeous! I saw all kinds of birds, including a little seed eater of some kind with a broken feather and a mama duck with her young, turtles sunning on logs and diving in the river, and wildflowers in bloom.

After I packed up about 2:00 PM, I made all those left turns to say goodby to you guys, but I ended up on the freeway. What's up with that? :smt009 I guess I was supposed to take the OTHER left out of the campground!

I had a great time and enjoyed meeting all of you. Hope to see you again soon. Good luck next weekend!

Great Time!  Good to see everyone and meet a couple of the new members.  Sunday was hot, hot, had to leave early.

The Toilet( I mean bikini shot ) was a good one.

I did not catch a strper at MEndo until I switched to a much lighter setup. 10lb main line , 8lb floro leader. Since then I have caught fish every time out.

Besides the one striper, I caught and released this 20 incher on a drifted minnow...

Good job fellas... that's a bunch of nice looking fish you guys hooked into.
