Okay , I finally boat a new used boat 18ft Klamath so I am excited to get out with the boys more now. I haven't done any trolling on a boat for trout in like forever(  or kayak too much) so what is a good lake at this time to get out and get some action? Is Berryessa good at this time? Any tips on a good downrigger to get  or if someone they want to sell and if it is something I should put on the boat. What is the ideal for trolling .
Thanks
Jimbo

Not really that different than doing it in a kayak, although you can keep speed more easily for the high speed trolling and pulling spoons at like 2.2-3mph.

does the klamath have gunnels? would you need to clamp on?  I have a couple of manual cannons that would be good for you.

A lot of striper action going on at Sherman Island. Throw rattle trap type lures at the bank on the river side of the island launch. There are three islands with large flats to the west. Fish the shallow flats on an out going tide. The kids will love it if they like hooking fish.
