5/1/07 - Stillwater South. Rockfishing begins !!!

It was fun to see all the yakkers out there catching fish. Those are some great photos.

Weather/ waves: In those conditions let's just say that tieing a uni to uni wasn't the best idea I had. I'm going all mono next time.   I can see from Usagi's post that I really should have brought a second pole to be able to continue to fish while I did my macrame.  To get my inner ear/brain in sync again I trolled my Walleye Runner (floating diver)(trebles replaced with single large siwash -fewer snagfus)  outside the kelp  and brought up 4 decent olives in about that many minutes.
   The bottom of the stairs ended in gravel/rocks, but there was sand over a ways for our landing.
   What a magical place!  I'm reminded of someone quoted in the paper yesterday: "Life is more than fair."

It was a nice day out there, even if it did get windy.  I arrived late with my coworker Ryan (although neither of us were working yesterday!), hitting the water just before 8am.  Called out on Ch. 69 to see where the NCKA folks were, and headed straight to the Pinnacles. 

I was monitoring channel 69 on the Santa Cruz side. I kept hearing these barely intelligible calls. Must have been you guys on the south end of the bay.
