I trolled a dodger/anchovy on a downrigger with the northern fleet near Candlestick from 7AM till noon for 1 shorty that shook off at the boat. For the amount of nets I saw versus the amount of boats trolling or baitfishing, it looked really slow. The California Dawn started trolling between OP and Candlestick, I took that as confirmation of a slow day. After noon I moved back to Sierra Point, and got a 26". I have such little deck space on my X-1 that I had decided to keep my Promar folded; besides I figured I have to one-hand any fish I stuck until I could clear the downrigger. But I could see the fish was well hooked, and I had plenty of time to keep pressure on while I got the promar unfolded one-handed; scooped up the fish first shot no problem.

Like most everyone else out there, I was following the contours between 17' and 22'. I don't know whether it was coincidence or not, but I got my two hits when I was making a long pass perpinducular to the shelf from shallow to deep.
