Has anybody ever forgot their ID at home and been checked by F&G?  I lost my wallet fishing last week either in the water or at my truck right after launching and couldn't find it when I got to shore.  I still have my Fishing license but my ID is nowhere to be found I have a new one in the mail but what would happen if I had came into shore with fish and and were to get checked by F&G and all of a sudden couldnt find my ID?

You should be fine.  The numerous times I've been checked, they never asked me for photo ID.  Of course, I'm sure if the description doesn't match, they may ask for ID so don't lie about your weight!   :smt005   :smt044

I had them check my id on a party boat out of port San Luis a few years back.

Sweet, I was always wondered I've been checked by F&G but only when I was younger and was never expected to have a ID

I never carry any ID when fishing and I've been visited by the DFW a fair number of times---they never asked for any ID. I was under the impression that you are not required to have ID when fishing.

Worst case scenario; that's what court is for.

Not the worst-case, but maybe more likely is that a warden would make me go back to shore and get my ID, which would effectively mean the end of fishing for that day.

I had a blown head gasket in my truck so I rented a car to go ab diving at Van Damme.
Ranger came up after my dive and spent 45 minutes BSing with me at the car.
Then he said he needed to heck my abs; no gauge necessary.
Then asked for my license, which I gave him.
Then he asked for my report card. This was when they first came out.
I forgot to grab it out of the glove box in my truck where I always keep it.
Flat out told him I didn't have it and explained why.
He said if he was a warden he'd site me on the spot and told me I better high tail it outta there.
My response, "I'm on my way. Thank you." and never looked back.
I got lucky. I think a license or card would be a lot harder to beat than ID.
Tell them you lost it in the surf then apply for a new one. Cheaper than a ticket and would probably hold up in court...guessing.

You would've probably gotten a ticket if you were a different nationality.

USCG checked me on the water and required that I show my photo ID along with my license.

They can always ask.  But if there is no law requiring it you are good.  I have never taken a photo ID with me and if stopped on land have no problem going and getting it out of the truck if they really want to see it.

Not sure if you have a boat with registration if you are required to have ID.  Please inform me if that's the case as I don't own a boat but have taken over the wheel on occasions.

CG could ask for ID, but I don't see how they could require it unless it is required under state fishing regulations...
