Hey all,
There is a 1 1/4" bar mounted behind the seat on the predator 13.  Want to install 2 rod holders on that rod.  A couple options:

1.  Scotty #358 - this may be nice b/c I could angle them for trolling off of the back or keep them straight up for transport.  https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001N4K6A6/ref=ox_sc_act_title_5?smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER&psc=1

2.  Amarine vertical rod holders - https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00E94LASY/ref=ox_sc_sfl_title_5?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=A1A4WAEGJNR9ED

I am concerned about the distance from the bar to the deck (~4.5 inches).  Does anyone know if the scotty #358 has the 4 inch clearance (once clamped) from the rod to the deck to be positioned vertically upon rotation?

Any other rod holder solutions for the predator would be much appreciated.  I realize I could install flush mounted rod holders pretty easily, but less drilling in the hull is my goal.  The Predator design seems to set you up well to avoid this.

On my predator, I mounted 2 scotty rocket launchers above the bar. I used a flush mount across where the bar is counter sunk and bolted. The reason I did it this way, is because that bar will roll when you add pressure front to back.
I posted some pictures a few years ago (like 4 years ago) but don't have time to look them up now.
Good luck and post pics

I was going to replace the bar with put the Hobie Bar and clamp-ons ($200) but I did a mock-up with PVC and didn't feel right. I was going fishing so in a pinch I repurposed a box I got from Tote it fit perfect and all it cost was two zip ties. I was going to change it up later but it worked perfect and why mess with faith. Thanks Mike.

Thanks for the reply.  Here is what Im playing around with...

The rod holder on the right seems well suited for trolling as it is easy to tilt out.  I switched out the other one for a fixed rocket launcher thinking it would be nice to keep the net above my head and out of the way.  The bar does flex a little when you pull back, and the clamps tend to slip pretty easily front to back - this could be improved by putting some tape in between the bar and the clamp.

The debate Im having is why not just install flush mounts - is it really worth not drilling into the boat??  This set up feels a little over-engineered and flush mounts would free up the deck space behind the seat.
