Was going to purchase a 2 way pigtail connector for my battery, and noticed that the retailer sells 18 gauge SXL wire, 14 gauge GXL wire, and 16 AWG wires.  Which do I need?
I'm guessing one is overkill since it is not for automotive use or high stress environments.
Austin Kayak does sell a "Hobie pigtail" with 12' of wire for $16, and it doesn't even come with a female end.

Also, where can I find gel-filled wire connectors?

Thx in advance.

This all you need. And a can of dielectric grease that will last a lifetime.

Would that also work for a livewell, where it will be exposed to water occasionally? Or just for batteries encased in tupperware?

I've used the same one inside my hull for a bunch of years now without a problem. Heat shrink any exposed connections.

I'm lucky to be able to make my own connectors at work.
Haven't had any problems yet. Been using this set up for over 3 years now. Definitely use dielectric  grease and solder connections when possible.
If you  use in wet conditions it's best to disconnect plugs and use a electrical contact cleaner spray to help remove any moisture in them.
Being lazy is were you run into problems.

Are you looking for gel filled wire connectors for a permanent connection?  I've used these for years for various applications (I'm an electrician) and have never had a problem with them.  16 gauge wire might be pushing it a bit size wise but should work.
