Where is the best place to buy a fully outfitted kayak for ocean salmon fishing?

You'll find that most kayak shops now sell "Angler Editions". They basically come with rod holders (some have multiple).

You'll have to buy and mount your own Fish Finder or GPS.... you can do a seach on this site on how to do 'em.

Where are you located?

I am located in Moraga, and will be fishing off of Stinson Beach.

Are you looking for a specific brand of kayak?

M,

That's a helpful link from Mooch!

Many of those outfitters will get you most of the way there, but not have something fully rigged for salmon fishing.  Kayak fishing specialty stores such as www.gwkc.com will likely be the best one stop shops - and the most informative and sincerely helpful - but there are very few of those places.

You will likely save money and get gear that is better-suited for you, specifically, if you shop around for different item groups at different places.

I would first decide which kayak is best for you - to help guide you, there are lots of "just getting started" posts to browse through on this site in this very section.  Lots of factors to consider (salmon move so you will need to cover a lot of ground, e.g. something fast, good in surf, and will carry your weight plus gear plus 60 lbs of fish, also your body type/size - among other factors).

This weekend, there is a REI paddling demo day in the San Pablo Res, so you may test some yaks:
DATE: April 29, 2007 10:00 am - 3:00 pm
LOCATION: San Pablo Reservoir/Recreation Area
HOST STORE: Berkeley
PHONE NUMBER: (510) 527-4140

Then look in the "gearing up" forum and do a search for salmon gear.  You will only be using one line when fishing, and if you are mooching you will likely want an adjustable-angle rod-holder such as a Scotty.  Most people feel it is best to start gearing lightly and learn your needs better, and then modify/gear further as you get your on-the-water fishing systems down.  For gear, www.kayakfishinggear.com is a fine source with great service, and there are others.

Maybe you could search this site and make a gear or "to get" list for yourself, and then feel free to post your list in the gearing up forum, as other experienced folk here may have helpful input for you.

Now and then there are rigging clinics held by site members - here one seems to be in the works:

You could also search the "Classifieds" section of this forum for fully rigged fishing kayaks - as enthusiasts, we do tend to take very good care of our stuff.  You could also watch Craigslist, but you typically need to be extra super quick on the draw there.

And definitely not least, make sure you include safety items in your list of gear to get!

Making your first yakfishing trip is a completely different topic...  But look and post in the hook-ups forum of this site, when you are ready for that.   It's best fishing with company, no matter how experienced you are.
