All points bulletin for you CSI Junior sleuths!

My house/ fence just got vandalized/ thrashed tonight.  Did a real number on my property.  A police report was taken by a member of San Jose's finest.  He advised that he was just going through the motions; investigators would likely not pursue it any further.

I got a good luck at the plates as they drove away.  Burgundy colored two door, with california plates 5FTR693.  I'm hoping my contact lenses aren't undercorrected! :smt044

Looking like Pen. Code 594 (malicious mischief) and 182 (conspiracy) on the criminal side, among others.  I just need to find the registered owner of the vehicle so I can serve him/her with a summons and complaint.

Anyone have any ideas on how to do a reverse license plate lookup?

OK, here's the tie in to kayak fishing.  My fenceline has been breached, and I keep my boats in my backyard.

The crappy thing is, I have a campbell address but it sits in SJPD jurisdiction.  If it were CPD, I'm sure I'd get a lot more attention.  SJPD is just so much busier, only 4 property detectives and they're seriously backlogged.

Thx for any pointers.

Call one of the news agency's.

Write an editorial to the news paper.

Find out how much a full one page ad is in the san jose paper. Wanted "FELON with license plate number #" and a picture of the valdanism.

Keep going down to the police station and calling them and ask how the cases is going. Then call a county or city council member or two. I worked for a large city and found that squeeky wheels get the grease. They'll do some stuff just to stop you from bugging them.

Sorry to hear about the break in/vandalism.  Was it just a random crime or was someone targeting you?

I'm right on the border of Campbell and Willow Glen which I think is in your neighborhood.  A section of my picket fence was kicked down recently...

Thx all for the tips.

This weekend I shall start a serious letter writing campaign.  I'm also gonna lean on the SCDA when I see her at the next Bar function.

I can't imagine why I would be targeted.  We've only lived there for 1.3 years, and haven't made overt enemies with anyone.

Kevin: when you call 911, does SJPD or CPD answer?  Fences are so tempting to bored, angst ridden teens who aren't getting any.  I'm dreading summer recess for that very reason.  Our lot is pretty fair size (for South Bay standards anyway), so there is a good deal of fencing.

I registered with a reverse plate lookup service last night.  $40 one time fee (supposedly).  Complete rip off!!  What they don't disclose is that $40 is a registration fee.  In addition, they charge between $30 and $90 PER search.  Can someone say fraudulent, unfair, and deceptive business practices?!  Hello Bus & Prof Code Sec 17200.

You used to be able to go to DMV and pay a couple of bucks to get the plate run. I'm not going to tell you that I'll do what I can do, but I'll do what I can do. I go back to work on Sunday. I'll PM you.

CHEERS!

I'm covered by the Sherriff's dept.  I'm in Willow Glen (95125) but right across the street is Campbell.

I figure my fence was hit by teens as well...

I believe that practice ended when a stalker used that (DMV) route to locate a TV actress and shot her dead when she opened her front door.
