Double "B" on Mission Bay 4/10/07

Had our family fishing tournament on 4/9/07 on Mission Bay (North Sail Bay) with skunks for all except for my daughters friend who caught an unidentified red fish to win the tournament. Launched out of Bahia on 4/10/07 for some serious fishing mainly in the middle bay and channel. Hooked a 14 inch sand bass and barracuda trolling a yozuri crystal minnow (blue and silver) near the bait receiver. The sand bass fought pretty hard for a 13 inch fish and actually made a decent run on 10# test (been catching trout too much). Hooked another sand bass on a rootbeer single tail grub in the channel. All fish were released. Lot's of yak anglers with some really cool looking yaks. Good to be back in San Diego and looking forward to fishing the La Jolla kelp in June.

Cool report Scott,  no pic of the RED fish?,we got peeps to I.D those kinds of freaks.
   I've read those BASS are lil-pitbulls......and the CUDA must have been strange to see at the end of a line.

It looked like a custom job. I was going to paddle closer and ask him but he and his buddy were working the bass hard in 5-10 FOW and I didn't want spook the fish.

Kevin - those are factory yaks made specially for the Malibu Team. A few of 'em were at the Fred Hall Show...unfortunately, they did not bring their own rigged yaks. They might bring their's next year - I hope. It would be interesting to see how they "pimp" their yaks.
