Question: What are the requirements to legally transport a compound bow? (Antoine R.)

Answer: “No person may nock or fit the notch in the end of an arrow to a bowstring or crossbow string in a ready-to-fire positon while in or on any vehicle” (CCR Title 14, section 354(i)).

I actually got pulled over with my bow on the backseat and the sheriff, who was fishing for anything to pin on me besides my headlight, gave me a lot of shit over it. I told him it wasn't illegal and because he wasn't sure if it was or wasn't he let me go. Fucker accused me of road poaching too.

Head up to the Mendocino NF on opening weekend of archery season and you wouldn't believe how many people are road hunting with windshields folded down and a bow with a nocked arrow resting on top of the glass.

Two years ago I saw a little flatfender jeep idling along with 2 people up front, obviously drunk and with open containers.  They built a tallllll rack on the back with a chair on top for their third drunk companion to shoot from.  Three nocked bows, dui and open containers   :smt011
