I have seen a video showing a guy packing dialectic grease into the SD slot.  I was wondering if anyone had success in other ways.  The attached pic shows the rubber "card door" circled in red.  I am noticing it has a tendency to get rubbed by my leg while pedaling  and pop open.  Any advice?

Thanks
Aaron

I think dielectric grease is a great idea.  And then tape it shut with some gorilla duct tape.

Thanks for the tips.  I'll do both.  At least I don't have to call the flex seal guy...

Used marine goop on mine, worked great.

That stuff is pretty awesome at sealing water in or out of whatever you install or drill through your kayak.

I use sd cards in mine so I don't want to ruin the sd slot with grease. You could mount it on the right side so your leg won't brush against that side of it. Tape or something is good because it might get bumped open if you ever capsized. I wouldn't put grease in it if you think you might ever want to use a map card or save waypoints to transfer them to another FF.

That waterproof gorilla tape seems like a good solution to me

Careful!  The comments about fouling the slot with grease are good. The duct tape will leave a gnarly, permanent residue.

I too get moisture (saltwater) fogging my Hook4 screen from the SD slot. The only remedy I've come up with is to open the rubber slot cover and set the unit in the sun to dry out. The salt residue is quietly building up....  A waterproof tech bag seems like the only potential solution.

May I also suggest a non-corrosive di-electric grease/gel:

I use this on all of my electrical connections on the car/kayak.  Prevents corrosion really well.
