Anyone might be interested if I can come up with this for half the price?
The quality is the same as Hobie.
If there is enough interest I'll make it happens.

This connection does not require soldering.

For soldering connection look at my post.

These work for me and they cost way, way less than 1/2 the price:

You are comparing an orange to apple here.
The one you post use 20AWG wire, IMO is too small. Max amp for power transmission is 1.5amh.
I could see that it will power up most FF fine, however it's not optimal.

A good waterproof plug is the key here. Not only where the pins meet, also it needs to waterproof where the wire enters the housing too.

Last it needs soldering. The Hobie ones do not need any soldering.

I happen to know about soldering and waterproofing due to my regular work.

I just use waterproof heat shrink "butt connectors" instead of soldering. I've had some electrical issues over the years, but never caused by these. I think the brand is Ancor (available at West Marine).

I do like those Hobie connectors a lot though. I actually bought a second set (and a second transducer...) so I can share my Lowrance head unit and battery between my kayak and my Gregor.

I bought this a couple years back. It's flimsy and wiggles. I seriously doubt it would waterproof anything. I still have them sitting in my drawer collecting dust.

These are awesome. If properly sized they're not going to leak---completely different than the heat shrink that you get at, say, Home Depot.

I've been using them for a couple of years with no problems (well, at least no problem due to these connectors). If I did have trouble with them, it'd be easy to replace, and I could do that a lot of times and still be much cheaper than a half-priced Hobie connector. I'm generally a fan of Hobie stuff, but this just seems way excessive to me.

These are standard automotive connectors, available at any O'Reilly Auto Parts for a lot less dough, there one has many other options in terms of sizing & configuration.

$22 for these versus $29 for the Hobie set isn't 1/2 the price.  Just saying.

And those solderless wire connectors suck, hard and out loud.  I'll never use them again.

I've used them, too, without problems.
