Tahoe 4-6-07 w/pics

Met up with Zilla and his buddy Chris at the Coon Street launch at 0'dark 30.
Dead calm and the lake was glass.
We paddled about 30 minutes to get to 'the spot'. You will know it by the rock that looks like a dinosaur ( photo attached ).
EASILY made bait and started working it in what was TONS of fish on the FF's. Zilla's FF was beeping NON-STOP marking all the fish.
Chris was the first to hook up with a nice rainbow while mooching. I followed shortly with a small, but keeper, rainbow. It was pretty cool 'cuz I got him using my DOWNRIGGER with nothing more than a hook and minnow. Zilla was a little slow getting started but managed a nice mack and a rainbow trolling a minnow with an egg sinker and that was all she wrote for the day. TONS of fish on the FF's but they sure weren't interested in eating. No need to get up early either as the bite didn't start right away.
Around 1pm we worked the flats on the way back to the launch for nada. After grabbing a snack out of my truck I headed back to 'the spot' and hauled @ss to get there as there was a t-storm on it's way. I still had a window of opportunity and wanted another crack at all those fish.
I kept my eyes on the clouds and as soon as I heard the first rumble of thunder in the distance I was outta there. I ended up fishing for another 45 minutes to no avail.
Even though the fishing was slow it was a PERFECT day on the lake.

Looks to me like that ff is in "demo" mode. Hard to believe all those fish and hardly takers.

That would mean that BOTH of our FF's were in demo mode because we were not marking them anywhere else like this and we marked them in the same location.
I had the exact same thing happen to me at Union Valley last year with all the marked fish and no takers. I would love to be able to drop an underwater cam and take a look at what is going on below but I have enough gadgets right now.

I'll be in Tahoe again in late July - you gonna be up for showing me the trout/Mack ropes?  I'm also considering an early morning trip over to Caples for a stab at a Mack there...

That lake looks SWEET and CALM! Nice pics Tote!  Those rocks look like creatures emerging out.

 Whats the deal with the Macks? when are they supposed to spawn in the shallows?  That DEEP DOWN stuff is too heavy for me

Way to go. Got skunked on Donner 2 weeks ago with 10-15 knot winds and white caps. Got really messy even with 2 drift chutes out trying to verticle jig for Macinaw. I will be up at Soda Springs fishing Serene Lakes and Tahoe this summer. Let's try to hook up.
