Well, the first weekend of turkey season my bud and I managed to call in a nice jake, which he promptly missed at about 15 yards (something about turk fever...) and we saw 6 more birds that day...fast forward a week and on the 9th, it was hot, muggy and had little breeze (like June in Missouri) and the place was packed..with people!  4 on horseback, 9 early 30's types in beer with swimsuits and a horde of MBikers!!!  5 miles of hiking, no birds, called till my mouth was sore, no reply!!!

well I guess we will get out again in a few weeks...gobble gobble

I went with Jelly this am as well, he too missed, but it was a longish shot.  Good luck next time.

The Grim Reaper was very close for Mr. Tom.  I took Tan-Man, my oldest boy out on a killing feista.  We had the urge to spill blood.  My boss took us to the secret spot and we called in a nice fat tom.  Tanner was shooting to the left, and I got the right.  The tom came to me, oh well.  I shot him at 12 yards, and he creeped right in on us w/o a peep, or gobble.  He did the... far off gobble, but got real quiet towards his last seconds of life.  We called in 4 or 5 others but they hung out a little far out for our range.  here is a pic.  DAD AND SON.... thats what its all about.!!!!!!!  The beard was 7.5 inches, with some nice spurs.

SWEET!!!
no hunt this weekend, I had to spend time with the wife and de-stress her a little bit...
Hopefully the weather is good at home and in the field next weekend...
