I'm Allch Chcar - Christopher in real life. Don't have many good pics of myself and you won't see my uncovered face on the water anyway :cold. I'm in my blue BRZ more often than not. :smt003

I've been fishing since I was 2. First fish was a croaker off a private dock on Tybee Island. I grew up on aluminum boats and paddle boats. Been landlocked for awhile now. After shopping kayaks for a couple years I ordered an Advanced Elements Pro Angler. With my car I can't get a roof rack and a trailer would be $$$. Hobie wants an extra thousand just for pedals and I didn't want to invest that much while first getting into kayaking. I figure I can start with a cheaper kayak and buy equipment that I can keep for a better kayak.

I mostly keep to Humboldt Bay and Ruth Lake. I tried fishing for some steelhead on the Mad and Van Duzen this year. Ended up skunked.

How are you transporting the Pro Angler if not car topped or trailer?

It's an inflatable kayak as are all the Advanced Elements crafts. There is aluminum framing and air bags in the bow and stern that are supposed to increase rigidity. I bought a package that includes the optional drop stitched floor too. I don't expect it to be as good as a "real" plastic kayak. But I was more concerned with mobility and cost. Whether I could get it on the water.

Thanks everyone.

Which one of you guys was driving a white truck with an orange kayak on the rack around Fortuna today. I think it was a wilderness system but only got a quick look a couple times. About 11:30 on south Fortuna blvd.

There wasn't much steelhead catching at all this year for how blown out it was all damn season long.

I don't know anyone else with a kayak and I haven't seen a fish in a year. It was nice getting all this rain though. My grandparents, and pretty much everyone I know, have been telling me how nostalgic it feels to have this much rain.

I did get my inflatable the other day and aired it up just for practice. I'm surprised how sturdy the floor is, the sides are a bit flimsy so I'll try not to lean on them too much. I'm still realizing how much else I need to even put it on the water. Work is going to keep me busy all day until at least Tuesday. So I'm not getting on the water anyway. I need to replace a bolt and washer for the seat. :smt012 I bought it with an anchor, PFD, paddle, air pump, cart, and a dry bag. I don't have any cold/wet weather gear at all. I looked at a dry suit but $500 seems a bit much. Especially since I'm not sure how long I'll use it.

I took the new kayak out on Hookton slough twice already. As I thought it was slow but stable. With all the wind there was a slight chop. Assembly and dissassembly is straight forward with an inflatable kayak. But drying it out is a huge pain. I usually fish the jetty for rockfish. But I'm new to ocean fishing. My drysuit came in so I'm just about geared up for fishing the bay.
