Rigging my Outback for sail

Anyone have suggestions/ layout ideas for AMA position and running main sheet/ furling lines for my Outback?


Also have a Pro Angler.  Anyone have any stories on just plugging in the sail and giving it a go?

Seen some internet stuff but wanted to check this site.  There appears to be some real kayak brainiacs on these forums.

Before I got an AI, I used the small Hobie sail on my Adventure (Revo 16) a fair amount---tons of fun. My only advice would be to get the Hobie furling kit

Of course, it's super-duper-expensive for what you get, but you'll be glad you have it.

It looks like any kayak over 8' that has a sail needs to be licensed.

Are you saying Brown passed/proposed those regs/fees? Please explain.

Last I heard, unfortunately, Moonbeam's signature is the final step when it comes to approving tax increases.

That sucks.

My contention is the sail is removable and second I haven't heard of anyone forced to register a kayak with a sail.  I let that one go.

I hear a lot of bitching about California.  The best thing I ever did was leave shit-hole Arizona 40 years ago and move here. Everything's not perfect it never will be.  But California has been very good to me. I could save a lot of taxes moving somewhere like Kansas ... but then I'd be in Kansas.

Hey myak8me... I was keeping quiet, but i drive a mirage classic 13' that was retrofitted with amas and a sail that fits into a cover on the forward hatch. it uses a standard hobie sail, but I think the furler is a home built device made of PVC. Next time I assemble it, i'll try to take pics.
