Was thinking about heading up to the Carson River this weekend for a little trout fishing. I believe it opens up here this weekend. It looks to be a nice river to fish along the backs any intel from anyone?

Lake Pardee. They stock it by the boat launch every Friday. Easy fishing and good sized trout.

Check out their Facebook page. I guess they planted it yesterday instead of today. 3000 lbs of trout. https://www.facebook.com/pardeelakerecreation/posts/1340459466038064

Lake Ralphine in Santa Rosa is a really small lake that the DFG plants trout into. The few times I've been there I've seen kids bank fishing with powerbait and worms and doing well.

If you're talking about West Fork Carson River in Alpine County...I can give you a little advice. At the junction of CA 88 and 89...you have a choice to make. Upstream of that point, the river is a slow and meandering with very to no trees or bushes. If you go downstream of that intersection, the river turns into fast moving pocket water. Both are good but i like the pocket water area. My favorite place to fish is near Sorensen's Resort on CA 88. There's a little bridge (that takes you to a couple houses across the river) a couple hundred yards down from the resort. Fish immediately above and below that bridge. General rule for trout stocking on the west Fork Carson River. DFG hatchery truck stops at all the bridges all the way down to Woodfords for its stocking locations. Great place to bring kids as well. Access is easy.
Good luck and post a report.

+1 for Pardee. I have seen lots of nice trout come out of there this month. I'll be working there again tomorrow if you want intel.

Water is going to be way too high this year for the opener.  There's a bridge west of the intersection on hwy 88 that has great spot to pull out and bank fish, and there is a road that takes off south a bit west of there htat also has good spots to pull out and fish.  But it's going to be way high water this weekend.

You could fish the lakes nearby, caples etc. and have a better time.  Save the WF Carson for when the water comes down.

Downstream of the 88/89 junction before the river drops into the canyon theres some great cut bank spots to stealth fish.  Thar be monsters in there.

Thanks for the intel, I think I will opt to hit Pardee since the flows are probably a little fast up north.

Now never been to Pardee so witch area north or south?
