I spent a couple hours slogging around in the mud north of kent island for nada.  Got back to my truck and spoke to a local while loading my yak and gear.  He said clams were squirting 100 yards from my truck in the opposite direction I traveled.  Drove 100 yards and gathered 9 mixed size gapers in an hour.  Heard the salmon fishing was slooowww so I headed home.

I was at bolinas beach today where I practiced launching and landing my outback today.  As I was getting ready to launch for the third time I noticed birds diving out past where the lagoon enters the sea so I quickly loaded my yak with gear and peddaled out there.  When I got there  I tied on a chovie to barbless hook and started mooching in the middle of the birds but to no avail.  They moved north about 2 miles so at this point(around 430pm) I headed back towards the beach where I noticed more birds diving north of the beach but closer to the surf.  I retied a 1/0 gama hook and 3 way swivel and started trolling & drifting the surf line.  About 10 minutes later I had a hali bite on my dead chovie but he was not to be fooled as he let the bait go.  I tried for another hour more before I noticed my date on the beach stamping her feet.
All in all a cool spot and there were birds crashing bait in the late afternoon.  The surf was moderate and the wind mild.  The bait was holding at least a mile to 2 miles off shore today.  Hope this helps anyone close to that area.  Johnthefisherman.. :smt002
