I went out today with some friends for the opener and did pretty good. We got 2 and a half limits of lings and some different rockfish. The problem is that this is only my second time rock fishing and I released some rockfish that were probably legal but I didn't know for sure. Is there any clear chart with all the rockfish regs of the Sonoma coast? Or can someone just tell me what the prohibited species are and what species have size and number requirements? Ive looked through the regs but I feel I'm missing some things

The Sonoma Coast falls within the San Francisco Management Area , which runs from Point Arena to Pigeon Point  .  The Regs for that area are located  on pages 14-15 in the 2017-2018 Ocean Sport Fishing Regulations.

Oh and I resolved my problems from last time out. For line I went braid to a tippet ring, and I got a small fly fishing leader folder to put pre cut lengths of 25lb cxx. I broke off zero fish today compared to 5 plus last weekend in Monterey. Then for storing fish I bled them on a d-ring and then threw them in a burlap sack, dunking it in the water every so often.

I don't knowing, people talk like its more complicated than it says on the dfw website and then I hear/see things that are conflicting on the internet and from what people say

People on the internet are dumb. Follow what the CDFW regs say. If you go to your region office and request the "finfish ID book" they should give you one for free. It's an awesome book with great illustrations.

Okay thanks. So according to the reg charts on https://nrm.dfg.ca.gov/FileHandler.ashx?DocumentID=140188&inline the only rockfish that are prohibited are yellow eye, bronzespotted, and cowcod?
