Anyone have any experience with one of these.  I have a chance to pick up a 300 and was thinking of pairing it with my 15-30lb 1/2oz-2oz old Fenwick e glass rod.  Any suggestions?

They do their jobs job, jigging rockcod, lingcod, stripers, halibut..... price is fair. Don't think it could handle oversized sturgeon. I had a 400 for sometime.

Mitch:

The corvalus is the equiv of a topless dancer.  OK looks, does not seem that expensive, but ultimately, you couldn't rely on it when you needed some real lovin'
The weight and cost are all acceptable (and even good), but the drag is weak.  you'd crank the star down till your knuckles white, yet a perch could still peel off 20yd run lol.  i end up thumbing the spool a lot, cursing hte whole time.  Also, serviceability is low

Thanks for the input guys.  Have you ever tried upgrading the drag?

The Cardiff is about as low as I'd go in Shimano's line of round reels.

I'd say its worth every penny of the ~$20 price difference, and then some.
