CHUB and I fished the evening on Monday. CHUB landed 4 and I got blanked.
Hit it again the next morning. Hooked up with H2OSpider and Mako1 later in the day.
BASS EVERYWHERE!!
At one time I had 12, yes TWELVE, surrounding my kayak. They come out to greet you, stop and stare at you as to say, " You are not foolin' me with your bait." and just look at you. Let me tell you there are some SUBMARINES out there. Saw one guy in a PB land a 12 pounder...Green senko, weedless.
I got a new helmet cam so I have no pics to post and I have a LOT of work to do with learning the whole angle thing.
I got this on video, so I thought. I was bummed to see that most of it was just out of the correct angle of the lens.
I had my last minnow and 3 big bass surrounding it. They were pushing it between each other playing with it like a cat would do with a mouse. Stress level for the minnow was high. Suddenly one of the bass hit it. Knocked my last minnow off the hook and it came swimming back to my kayak. Thank goodness for flooded footwells on the P15 as I was able to scoop the minnow back into the yak. Would have been a perfect story if the beast didn't break me off. I was forced to horse it or else loose it in a downed tree. Still pretty cool to see it all happen right in front of me and get the minnow back.
We all ended up catching fish. I even caught some on plastics!!!!!!
We all fished until about 4, then took a BBQ break at camp. Except for Juan, he had the fever and wanted to get back on the water ASAP so he passed. Big mistake my friend, Terry's GF does a MEAN marinade.. After the BBQ we fished until the evening. Juan left around 7:30, Terry around 8. CHUB and I left when it got black on the water.
The fishing has slowed down a tad, but the fish are everywhere.
Hit it and hit it hard!!!!

I was also fortunate enough to see the 12.3 hauled out of C-lake. I could have fit my head inside of its mouth. Amazing fish.  The amount of fish moving in the shallows and up and down kelsey creek is insane, and the size of some of these fish is mind blowing. Sadly the vibe and feeding frenzy is not what it was in the past few weeks. It seems we have moved into another phase of the pre-spawn.  Now these huge males seem to be establishing territory and attacking other bass to hold their ground instead of feeding. We saw alot of fish posturing with the kayaks when we were in the beds and then they would move back when we pulled off.  It could have been just this day, but we will see what happens this weekend.
Still this was a great day! thanks Tote, for the invite, and I told "Her" that the beast juice was a hit.

Yea sounds like the big females are starting to lock down on there beds. You really have to get them pissed off so they will bite a lure and sometimes this takes hours. This is were a swimbait or a jig will work better then minnows. Take your lure and set it on the bed they will try to move it off by pushing it or gently bite a little piece and swim it off the nest. This will drive you nuts. If your lucky and persistant she will get pissed and slam it then your on. I'm coming up Thursday night with the kayak and bassboat will fish one day with each. Still sounds like you guys had a good time thats what its all about. See you soon.

I've used that technique before. Kevin, have you tried the ol' bait and switch with the swimbait?  Piss her off with the swimbait and the switch to a more finesse bait like a senko or worm.  Sometimes the big swimbaits are good at the ticking the fish off, but sometimes they still won't bite it.  The next poor thing that comes into view (i.e. the worm) however gets enhaled.  It helps to have to two pre-rigged rods for this scenario.

Yea your right I am glad you mention that I forgot to. On the boat I'll have from 8 to 12 rods set up ready to do just that. But its got to be a bait you have good control of. I like to go to a jig with a pork trailer in a brown color at least 3/4 oz so I can shake it on the nest. The most I have had set up on the yak was 4 still enough to do the job. Hope I get a good one this week. This will be my first kayak sight fishing trip and it is diffrent then standing on the bow of my boat. Well we will see what happends

My 2 cents worth of a report.
Ditto to what Tote and Spider reported. The bite is not what it was.
Saw many fish, some are trophies. They won't hit.
I was out early AM today and threw giant swimbaits where I saw giant bass yesterday. Alas, I caught nothing on the swimbaits. What I did hook fish on were frogs, senko, and shakey worm. I ended my day at Rodman slough. I hooked some fish outside of it, fewer in it. Water is dirtier here, didn't see the fish like at State Park.
The frog fish came out of shallow, weedy stuff in the early morn. I love this!
I'm new to the shakey worm. It works and it is easy. Just something else to buy.
Fish on!

Doh!  I did the same thing...my first video was 90 degrees off!
