This is a little embarrassing, but I am 30 years old, and I am a virgin.  I have never caught a fish from a kayak.  Canoes, powerboats and from land, yes, but never from a kayak.  Anyway, the tides are right and I am going to make a trip to Tomales Bay for the maiden voyage on my new Prowler 13.

High tide is around 10am.  Rumor has it that it is best to fish for halibut two hours before and after high tide.  I plan on being at the boat ramp just north of Blakes Landing (It might be called Miller Park, not to be confused with Miller's Landing) at about 6am.  I will hopefully catch some live bait near Hog Island and then fish around Hog Island.

If anyone besides me needs a day to reflect on life, which is a fancy way of saying if anyone else wants to ditch work, then please feel free to join me.  Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Cheers, Sean

You'll have no problem getting bait in the shallow weedy areas around hog island... you might just try towing a sabiki rig as you paddle.  Probably pick up bait here and there along the way.

I think the boat launch is called Nick's cove... anyway... you'll find a decent shot at halibut by drifting the channels to the west side of Hog Island.

Good luck... look forward to your report.  May just be able to get out there on Saturday...
