Was at Tomales today on a crab hunt. Put in at Lawson's Landing and on advice from Nick (great guy who works there) dropped three pots between 5 mile marker and Tom's Pt. Dropped an hour or so before slack tide. Three hours later two completely empty pots (first time in a long time) and the third had an undersized female. Although seals were around all bait was intact so dropped again about 200 yards from the pier. another hour produced two small rocks. Where do you have luck? Thanks in advance for the help.

That's a rough long day.  I ended up with one keeper today on a 2 hr. soak in Bolinas Lagoon.  4 short dungees.  2 pots.  That fresh water may be messin' things up, almost went to Doran but didn't want to go it alone.  Checked out muir and too big waves......I've always launched out of Miller Point at Tomales.  It's hard to find em'.   I check after an hour and move them.
“I’m going fishing.”  They said, “we will go with you.”

I'd guess all the fresh water run off is pushing the crabs out of the bay into deeper water. There are a couple deep holes in Tomales, that may be you're only shot at some good crabbing in there right now.

OK, yes, we did OK at Crabfest, just wanted to try a new spot. And Tomales is so pretty just hoped there was a general spot where folks have had good luck. Thanks for the report.

Maybe try by hog island, launch out of marshals and have lunch at the beach while the pots soak

Islandpaddler... the crabs are out there... may be another issue?  Old bait?  left some gas or soap smell on teh bait? I'd be interested what Stone85 was using for his success...

Fresh chicken quarters...sardines and squid in a bait jar. Same gear that worked at Doran and HMB. Got a couple small rocks and under female. No bueno.
