Clear Lake sight fishing 3/30

 Broke away midday to get on the water. Again I was surprised to only encounter a few bass boats and only one in the tourney. It seems that everyone is staying on the northend. Hooray for me.
Clear Lake is actually clear right now. 25-30 feet of vis and it has inspired me to start bringing my mask to salvage from a wasteland of lures. The real bonus is that you can see that there are 5#ers plus feeding off the bottom, some are roaming in packs around fallen trees, and other beasts are holding tight to the trees in the shade. It was those in the shade that were ready to party today.  I did take fish sight fishing but also had to witness three different bass take my senko and spit it out before I could set the hook. I need to get better. Took victims on the jig and senko today. The bigger fish were taken tight in the trees and wanted to drag me in too.
Still hunting for the superbass.

Those are some hogs! You may have to try the planter trout sized swimbait for the new record.

The camera mount pics are coming out better too. I think you're getting it dialed in.

Nice report Terry! I may have to hit the lake next Thursday, while everyone else is on the coast searching for ab's. I'd like to take advantage of the spawn before it tapers off.

the camera mount is a piece of pool noodle cut to fit my camera then gooped to a scotty mount.
if you look in the wilderness sytsems section under my T140 you can see the mount.

Another nice CL report. I bet some of those tourney boys would've liked to have you show them a thing or two.

I have to admit that I would have as much fun swimming for lures as catching fish.

I guess those lures are catching the fisherman, not the fish!

 Yesterday I went to the Bass Masters Elite weigh in.  The record was broken twice and the winning weight was 122#s plus some change.  All of them talked about the water clearity and how many huge fish they could see. 20+' of vis and most of the big fish were taken on the swimbaits that were 6'' and larger and fished very slow and shallow around docks and walls. The last day of the tourney was the least productive and this was said to be due to the overcast conditions that did not cast shadows. Most fish are being taken at the edge of the shadows.  The pros were refering to big bas as donkeys and one guy said what he was seeing were more like submarines and 2 donkeys could ride on them. The submarines were seen by most but none were seduced into biting. Still there were some monster fish caught and it was inspiring. I must get one of those.
