California Campfire Permits available free online

Campfire permits are free and required in a lot of the state's public lands for overnight camping, backpacking, or having any sort of fire including propane stoves.

Every year around the beginning of January, I would trudge down to the fire department or forest service office to get a permit. Not any more though!  They are available online for free.

I'm probably the last one to know this, I just found out last year from a ranger in the Russian Wilderness. She sort of chuckled at my permit being the old yellow slip of paper issued at the fire agency. At least they are still available there if you need one and don't have access to internet or a printer at the time you need one.

Thanks for the heads up, I always grab mine at one of the sport shows but this is way easier.
