Hey all, no kayak yet but I am ready.  Been surfing the board on boat recommendations and learning a few things here about kayaks.  Been looking on CL and here for any sales.  Think im going towards an OK prowler 13.  From what I gather here it seems you guys recommend a good used boat rather than a new cheap one.  Anyways hope to meet some of you on the water

I would say that the recommendation is more to try as many as you can before you buy. If you can afford a nice new boat, great but there are also lots of good used boats out there. The main thing is to do your research and be happy with your purchase.

Also don't forget to leave a budget for a good PFD, paddle and other day gear.

Welcome,
You should go check out the expo next month, many of us are going on Saturday the 21.
meet some of the crew and look at all the kayaks and compare.
I am also from Vallejo and if you are willing to go spend the day there, you could even catch a ride with a few of us.
if you have some gear try going to crabfest.

If you have coin to spend or time to look around, then demo. If you are young, in relatively good shape, broke and just want to get on the water to slay some fish, then you can't go wrong with a used prowler 13. It's light enough to car top and you can take it pretty much anywhere.

Thanks all for the welcome, glad to see there’s some vallejoans here.
Scubaluis , thanks for the invite,  Ill keep the expo in mind but i might not be able to make it.
The reason I like the prowler or something alike, from what I read, light weight,  faster than most overall good boat, and cheap if I can find it used.
hope to be on the water soon
