I'm going to be out at Stinson for the entire upcoming weekend in a house on Seadrift lagoon for my wife's 40th B day.  Any fish in that lagoon??  What about Bolinas lagoon?  I'm thinking at least Leopard Sharks, etc. in there.  I may also try for dungies/halibut/even striper in the ocean, plus some perchin - I'm going to bring as much gear as I can get away with!  I'd post this as a hookup but I don't want to steal the show...  :smt003

I don't know about seadrift but I don't think there's much in Bolinas lagoon except marine mammals and hippies that like to swim in brackish water As soon as we hit the lotto I'll be doing that myself and pissing away every afternoon until eternity at Smiley's

A lot of people fish the outlet at Bolinas for godknowswhat but if I were to guess most of them are mainly there to catch a buzz

The currents rip through pretty hard at the mouth so you'd think something would be going through there like it or not On the other hand the water inside who knows what fish would be living there

I did talk to a woman who was casting along the outside of the outlet for perch She wasn't having any luck when I talked to her but it sounded like she fishes it regularly

Sorry, not much help in that but it didn't look like anybody was coming through with info

If you stop in at smiley's tell them there's a guy who fishes dux in a kayak who plans on stopping in and buying everybody a round one of these days It's a promise I'll either keep or die before I do

I know as kids we used to stop at any of the piers in Bolinas and pull mussels off the pilings break them up and use for bait and KILL the rubber lipped Perch from under the piers.

There's a south swell rolling in on Sunday, so the ocean put-in could get messy. I think the morning flood tide would be worth a try inside. Maybe jig for some shiners for bait on the pilings the last poster talked about. It's pretty common to see people fishing from the beach on a point right off the highway. I saw a guy crossing the street there once with two halibut.

Thanks for the input.  I will at least surf cast for perch and bring something bigger for a striper longshot.  I'm pretty sure Bolinas Lagoon would be a good spot for Leopards - C&R of course.  I'm also a little curious about the Halibut possibilities - if they are hanging around ARW, OP, etc. why not the sandy bottom off Stinson.  I also have one hoop net and a crab snare rig.  Regardless, the buzz catching sounds like a guarantee   :smt004  I may also take the opportunity to practice launch and landings - could be fun!  Will report back...

I've caught BIG leopards and BIG batrays in the lagoon, from shore, and I've heard of some halibut being caught closer to the mouth.

Good luck!

I started kayak fishing to get away from most of you...

With the tide ripping through there one way or the other sometimes it looks like whitewater riverstyle

a few times coming in I wished I had time to play in it with the yak completely unloaded

If it's big south swell watch your back, I got rolled in there once coming in and thought I was going to drown for sure At the right time of day it'd be a great place for one of those little surf yaks

Maybe with a ripping outgoing and a big swell :cowboy_smoke:
