this is a good deal.  I have this rack and really like it, but it is a bit of a job in itself.  You don't really leave the setup on, so its some installation each time.  I think these are really better for taking the yak off than getting it on, and I am curious if the outrigger might have been a quicker, cheaper solution.  But if you have a really high roof, this is really great.

i got mine used from hojo so they were a little beat up already-i leave mine on all the time with no apparent ill effects, they work the same as the day i got them. $350 is a good price for the 897xt.

If that is the 897 instead of the 897xt, the difference is that the 897 has an issue with the cradle sometimes did not stay locked in the deployed position.
