Not sure exactly what you're talking about but I've used your standard 4/0 (hook size) hook for whole live mackerel

What is the best way to bait a whole mackerel?
from my memory, fisherman's warehouse has a selection of the cable baiters and the double limerick hook rig with the pointy shank.  i believe they may be made by gammy or mustad.

here's the one i used to use for bullheads - mustad 9418 double live bait hook with brazed shank.  shank em right through the mouth and out the anus.
