Pretty slick.....I'd be concerned with just the one strap though.  A pin through the scupper hole could go wonky too.  Crack the scupper, or break?  And, it would only fit a kayak with a scupper hole in that relative position.  Slick though!

Just using the idea, not the exact design.
There is a solid fixed 'strap' on the other side which seems to be kayak specific.
I'm with you on the piece going through the scupper. Not going to happen on my design.
I have the plans rough sketched and am using a section of aluminum ladder for the pull out. Mix in some Unistrut and a few rollers and I might be in business. Like designing anything, there will be a lot of tweaks along the way; but if I can come up with something where I can do everything from ground level it will make life a lot easier.
