Shasta Lake

The bass are more of a challenge to locate now than in May, but running a little bigger.  I found fish mostly at 35-45 feet off of granite boulder outcrops.  All were spots.  Used mostly live minnows.  Some of my neighbors did well with gitzits and silver plastic minnows.  Power boaters were out-catching my wife and I by at least 3 to one.  I was slowed down a little by nagging shoulder and back ache, plus helping my wife, and tended to work a single spot a lot longer.  I was lifting a fair-sized fish on my wife's line into my boat and it dropped off.  She didn't catch another one until evening, and insisted I use the fish bag as a net.  I was on the wrong side of her boat,  and tried to lean across her bow to net the fish.  Ended up flipping my boat, but the fish was in the bag, and it was the biggest one of the day, so I made a couple of points. 
Didn't try for the landlocked salmon.  They are mostly at the dam, 10 miles away.  Maybe we will bring an extra vehicle next time.  Our RV is hard to pick up and move.

Way to go! Doing a rescue with your pre-existing aches and pains must have been a b----, though. Hope you made more than a couple of points with that day.

Nice effort and report. Hopefully you guys get a little more rain then we (Chico / Forest Ranch) are. A little rain and then more warm weather will kick everything into overdrive. We have a lacrosse game in Redding on Sat/24. Camp/fish Sat night and Sunday?

How cold was that water, brrrrrrrrrrr.  Good recon report.

Too bad on the dunking!  I jumped in when we were out last week, I think the water was around 56° or so....cooled off in a hurry!  I think the war department has given me the green light for Sunday, I had planned on a turkey scouting trip along the Sac, but if anyone wants to fish let me know...
