Changing over to a Malibu 2 that I will mod for fishing, so I'm selling off my Cobra Tandem, which is fully rigged (DF, baitwell, rodholders, etc.) I'm down in LA (Playa del Rey) so if anyone knows SoCal anglers, this would be a great beginning yak fully rigged at an affordable price. If you could crosspost to any SoCal sites, gracias! Here's the Craigslist listing. Thanks! HappyDab http://losangeles.craigslist.org/wst/boa/5833036776.html

I rigged a Malibu 2 a number of years ago and I think it's a great, stable (but slow and wet) fishing platform. Just load that sucker up with 2 (or four if you can fit them) recessed rod holders behind the rear seat, and three Scotty holders in front of the rear seat (but out of the way of the front and rear paddle strokes -- two on on side to hold a depth finder mount and one to hold a rod, then one to hold the rod on the other side), and another one at the bow in front ahead of the paddle stroke. Then install enough eyelets to hold down a 3 gallon pet food holder bait tank with a bilge pump in and a gravity drain out between the rear and front seats. I'd also invest in high backed seats with rod holders. And boom, it is a slow, wet fishing machine.

I find the Cobra Tandem higher and drier, but less stable particularly when someone heavy is in front. It's great if it's just your lighter female friend up front, but I don't like the way mine behaves with heavier people in front. It's actually really quite good as a solo as long as the bait tank is full, as it evens out the weight nicely. Either way, they're both pigs to paddle or surf. Happy to provide additional thoughts on mods. Good fishing!
